Magpie Tales 44

Evidence

On the plump white hillside
there was evidence—

scarlet plagued splotches
and the lines of blades

slicing deep— parallel
and linear to a distant apex.

Red molded into the lines
like a train had severed a leg

and paraded the results
proudly through the countryside.

So vivid! I love how you picked up the color of the sled in the photo, that dark blood red, and ran with it.

This one's a bit more raw and dark than your usual write, Michael. I like.

Red is a sign of danger. Funny that sleds are painted red.

I liked your take.
