Magpie Tales 72 - Poem untitled

Wheat Field with Rising Sun, Vincent Van Gogh, 1889

Torrents of amber and goldenrod
highlights wave to the wind
under blistered sky

grasshoppers fleeing
ahead of us the field
ripe for a day of toil

tomorrow it will be
combines and us
against the fever

I'm sensing a little feeling of Missouri farmland here! Nicely done.

What a wonderful poem! (I'm currently at war with grasshoppers here in dry Louisiana and have nothing good to say about the little pests...LOL!)

I'm always amazed when I see yet another Van Gogh I'd never seen before. I posted one of his still life's on my blog today. What a genius he was!! Blessings!

That was a wisp of fresh air indeed....I'm rather fond of toiling, too!

This beautiful piece brought to mind the film "Days of Heaven". Very nice, Michael.
