New York At Night -Vivienne Gucwa
The magenta of day
now sullied by mist and streetlight.
The streets fill like a drawn bath.
Clubs and restaurants swell
in song and dance as sponges
soaking in the crowds;
to be spit out by two a.m.
and the streets drained.

I like the contrast of the night with the "magenta of day." Nice one.
The silence of the late night city can feel so crushing... i think you capture that very well
Beautifully written.
I have no heart for nightlife. I must be getting old for the buzz.
:)
Feels true reflection!
I love the metaphors in your poem.
'song and dance as sponges
soaking in the crowds;'......nicely

Nimble and rather wise...
Like a drawn bath...I love that...
(sure hate the word verification Michael...would you consider taking it off for Magpie...pretty please...)
Down right truthful, but a girl can dream otherwise right!
Sounds as though you have been there, done that ... loved this one Michael.
I enjoyed all the watery words used!
Do think about abandoning word verification por favor! Cheers!
Interesting images. Reminds me a bit of "Spirited Away." Well written!
And I don't mind word verification.
