Light is Reversible and I Wear It—
inside out
snug about me
a compression bandage
that heals the anxious pricking;
nervous needles of daylight—
people I don’t even know
that pass me
that press me
that push me to the brink.
Day is my hell—
my holy hell.
I am safest with it
under my surveillance
at a distance.

So much emotion, so ripe here.
It felt almost like I was at the zoo, looking in.. whispering, "really? Is it really like that for this... person?"
(In other words, well done!)
My better late than never Magpie.
"surveillance
at a distance" hmmm...I think I am doing it all the time...It keeps you out of trouble many times...
Brilliant piece...
"L'enfer c'est les autres."

Survelliance at a distance.... something many do without giving it a second thought...
Nicely done.
Very much better than the typical blog offering.

Is this a social crisis or you getting burned by the sun?
either way, tricky day
What a fabulous opening line. I love the notion of wearing light inside out. I think this one is my favorite of yours, to date, Michael.
Interesting take and very emotive expression in this brief poem and good use of descriptive in a tight write for magpie
compression bandage - pass, press push, surveillance.
cheers,
